The goddess that was raised from the sea, the most beautiful and mischievous goddess you’ve ever heard of... THE one and only... APHRODITE!!! Curious about what makes her world spin? Here are 7 developments about her.
#1 Aphrodite wasn’t born. She rose from the foam of the sea and nymphs made her all beautiful and stuff. However there is another myth where Zeus and Dione bore Aphrodite.
#2 Aphrodite is the goddess of love and with that “job” she makes everyone fall in love.
Even hero’s can’t avoid her making them do terrible things being a playful goddess she plays around with love.
#3 Her husband is Hephaestus the god of fire, he made her the most beautiful necklace so she became even more beautiful. She didn’t have a choice of marrying Hephaestus. Zeus made the decision for her because he didn’t want to start a war between the gods.
#4 Aphrodite, like other gods/goddesses, has “badges” of symbols that represent her. A dove, an apple, and her son Eros; but the Romans called him Cupid he probably made people fall in love like Aphrodite. It looks like the apple didn’t fall far from the tree!
#5 Aphrodite’s name in Roman mythology is Venus. Fun fact all of our planets are named after a Roman god, but perhaps this will be a future blog discussion!
#6 Aphrodite won the beauty contest against Athena and Hera by offering the most beautiful mortal woman to fall in love with Paris, where he was the judge. While Athena offered him to be the wisest man in the world, and Hera offered to make him the king of Asia, Paris didn’t care about wisdom or control, he only cared about beauty.
#7 Aphrodite rides in a chariot pulled by sparrows. WOW there must have been thousands or 3 mystical sparrows to be able to pull a chariot through the sky!
